what is permanent jewelry?
Simply put, permanent jewelry is jewelry that you can’t take off. Rather than closing a bracelet or necklace with a traditional clasp, a jeweler will weld the two ends together. Many people get permanent jewelry as a way to pay tribute to meaningful milestones in their life or the special bonds they share with loved ones. Think of it as the modern day friendship bracelet.

They stay on until you are ready to remove them. The chains are delicate so you need to take care not to snag them. If the chain does break, please contact us and we can discuss repair options.
-
You can simply cut the chain at the jump ring with wire cutters and save it to be welded back at a later date. If you are more comfortable coming in, we can remove it for you. A re-weld fee of $15 does apply.

Many reasons! Trendy jewelry or costume jewelry tends to tarnish quickly because they are usually gold plated. Gold plated jewelry is a very thin later of gold over top of a base of copper or brass. Copper and brass tarnish easily and turn your skin green. All metals for permanent jewelry are gold filled or higher quality meaning they will not tarnish or chip.
-
Gold filled jewelry is made of a thick solid layer of gold that is bonded to a base of another metal like copper or sterling silver. We use gold filled jewelry because it’s more durable than solid gold and also has a better price point. It stays looking new and shiny even after decades of wear.
Solid gold is also a good option but comes with a much higher price tag. It’s worth noting that solid gold is a much softer metal than gold filled, making it more likely to break or stretch if it snags or catches on something.
Lower quality metals such as gold plated, brass or copper offer a lower price point but will quickly tarnish and stain the skin. We only offer gold filled and solid gold options for our permanent jewelry.
Please note solid gold is by special order only.
-
Sterling silver is the material we use for our silver colored pieces. Sterling silver is harder than regular silver and therefore more suitable for permanent jewelry.
If worn all of the time, sterling silver will last on average between 20-30 years.
Pure silver is not susceptible to tarnish in a pure oxygen environment. However, the copper that is contained in sterling silver may react to the ozone and hydrogen sulfide in the air and cause slight tarnishing. No worries, if this does happen simply mix lemon juice and olive oil together until they make a thin paste. Dip in a soft cloth and gently wipe the jewelry. This will bring your sterling silver jewelry right back to life!

Use dawn dish soap and a soft toothbrush.

Cut at the jump ring with scissors or wire cutters. Or come in and we can help! Save your jewelry and we can re-weld it for you when you are able.
-
We guarantee your jewelry is bonded before you leave. We check the weld thoroughly and tug a couple of times to ensure that the piece is strong.
Breaks in the chain will have a small fee associated to repair or a fee to be replaced. Permanent jewelry is durable but not indestructible.
